A Memphis activist on Sunday claimed that her life was “in danger” after State Senator Brent Taylor (R-Memphis) shared her now-deleted post claiming he, “looks like he’s ready to catch one in he throat.”
The claim by L.J. Abraham, a Memphis activist who attended anti-police protests after the death of Tyre Nichols, came hours after Taylor shared her earlier post on social media, and reported that some contacted concerned her post was, “a possible reference to the recent assassination of Charlie Kirk who was assassinated with a bullet to the neck.”
Taylor shared Abraham’s now-deleted post to X, revealing Abraham wrote, “Senator Brent Taylor looks like he’s ready to catch one in the throat like his boy Donny,” followed by emojis depicting laughter and surprise. She concluded, “face *ss.”

He also claimed that Abraham did not respond to his request to clarify her comments, and reported that law enforcement ultimately, “showed up at her door to question her” over the post. Under questioning, Abraham claimed the post was a joke, according to Taylor.
“That’s the same thing my kids would say when they got caught saying something stupid,” he wrote.
Several people sent me screenshots of leftist LJ Abraham’s Facebook post stating I was ready to “catch one in the throat” (which some thought to be a possible reference to the recent assassination of Charlie Kirk who was assassinated with a bullet to the neck). Abraham’s post addressing the controversy, and claiming her life was in danger, was published around three hours after Taylor said law enforcement visited the activist.
“Making up scenarios that never happened and posting them as something factual is dangerous,” wrote Abraham. “Even insinuating that I made a threat in reference to CK can have serious consequences in today’s political climate,” she added, appearing to reference the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
“This claim absolutely puts my life in danger,” wrote Abraham.
The Tennessee Star sought comment from 901 Community Fridges, the anti-food insecurity organization led by Abraham, but did not receive an immediate response. Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy’s Office also did not immediately respond to an inquiry.

In another post to social media, Abraham seemingly acknowledged she was contacted by law enforcement, and appeared to indicate she was actually making a homophobic joke.
“So before I could respond which I didn’t because I didn’t see his reply until now, he sent the Feds,” wrote Abraham in a post to Threads. She attached an image that appeared to show she wrote in response to Taylor, “I meant giving a b******,” which she called a “a joke.”
Abraham’s recent social media posts indicate she is locally prominent, with posts confirming her attendance at the July wedding of State Representative Justin Pearson (D-Memphis) and her role as Master of Ceremonies for a No Kings Day protest in October.
Her social media also includes a slideshow of photos from the No Kings Day protest held on October 19, which appears to show Abraham speaking to the crowd during the event.
She was interviewed by Action News 5 about the trials of the officers accused of murdering Nichols in 2023, when she told the outlet she attended both trials in person.
“We sat through both of them, day in and day out; they played the videos, they played slow-motion videos,” she told the outlet. She later stated, “I think coming together and standing up for the families and the victims of police brutality and violence is super important because they don’t get the support that’s needed from our city, from our courts.”
Last year, Abraham wrote in another post on social media that Memphis’ “failures” should not be blamed on crime.
“They blame this city’s failures on crime instead of addressing poverty and lack of mental health resources,” wrote Abraham. “These places aren’t closing because cars are getting broken into. They’re closing because we CAN’T f****** afford to patronize them.”
Data published by the City of Memphis shows more than 2,700 arrests have been made since the deployment of the Memphis Safe Task Force in September, and the U.S Marshals Service recently confirmed recovering more than 100 missing Memphis children.

While the right plays by Marquess of Queensberry rules, the left plays in the gutter. It’s time to treat them all like the dangerous psychotic criminals that they are.
Interesting how the wicked ones squeal when their threats are exposed. They are quite happy tossing around literal and veiled threats but attempt to deny their doings when a light is shone on them. I would just say what is good for the goose should be good for the gander.
BTW I am totally opposed to all threats and violent actions.
She’s been taking lessons from J Crockett, AOC, and their ilk, I see.
With all the left has said and promoted people to do against anyone that does not agree with them, to say that they consider anything a threat is a joke. Again all is great so long as you agree with a Liberal, if not it must be against the law, for YOU, not for them.
Not only does her post appear to threaten Sen Taylor, it also threatens POTUS (her “like his boy Donny”)!
No one refers to a BJ as “taking one in the throat”. Her claim of her life being threatened is complete BS! She has threatened (via a masked call for violence) two elected officials.
Has the Secret Service been notified?
Is this what the leftists mean by toning down the rhetoric?
